The family members stated that the deceased girl's maternal uncle, Chhotu alias Jasim, had taken her away in the afternoon under the pretext of giving her something to eat. The girl had been missing since then.

The post-mortem report confirmed the rape of the girl. Police had been searching for Jasim since that day. According to police, the SWAT team, the Crime Branch, and local police were searching for Jasim. Meanwhile, on Sunday, police received information that Jasim was arriving with his associates. Police laid siege and attempted to stop Jasim and his associates, but Jasim opened fire on the police, while two of his associates fled the scene.
