News Topical, Digital Desk : The Ganga Expressway is envisioned not only as a means of transportation but also as the foundation for a comprehensive industrial transformation. This expressway will develop as a co-industrial corridor from Unchahar in Rae Bareli to the Lalganj border. Unchahar is home to a large NTPC power plant, while Lalganj boasts a modern rail coach factory operating at full capacity. This expressway will provide a new impetus to regional industrial development. It will also be a boon for farmers.

There are plans to develop an industrial corridor covering approximately 200 acres near the toll plaza near Unchahar, which could become a major local employment hub. Establishing industries will not only provide employment to nearby residents, but will also enable rapid transportation of goods produced here to major industrial centers like Noida , Meerut, and Delhi. This will reduce both transportation time and cost, and reduce the risk of product damage.

Rae Bareli is also making steady progress in the agricultural sector. Agricultural produce markets have been established in areas like Unchahar, Lalganj, and Salon, where farmers come from far and wide to sell their vegetables, fruits, and grains. Because fruits and vegetables are perishable commodities, farmers are forced to sell them at lower prices if they are unable to reach the market on time. The construction of the Ganga Expressway will provide farmers with quick access to major markets, enabling them to obtain better prices for their produce and reduce losses.

Possibility of re-establishment of industries

At one time, approximately 86 industries, both large and small, operated in Rae Bareli, providing ample employment opportunities. However, due to a lack of resources and neglect by previous governments, these industries gradually closed. Many units, including the Vespa factory and the spinning mill, failed to survive due to transportation problems and rising costs. In this context, the Ganga Expressway could serve as a resuscitation for closed industrial units. Improved connectivity will make transportation of products cheaper and faster, increasing the likelihood of industrial re-establishment.

Overall, a comprehensive industrial ecosystem is expected to develop along the Ganga Expressway in Rae Bareli. The establishment of warehousing, cold storage, and a variety of small and large factories will accelerate economic activity in the region, potentially proving crucial for local development and job creation.
