News Topical, Digital Desk : India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Sunday met Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Ram Chandra Paudel. They discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties.

According to sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Misri, who is visiting Nepal at the invitation of Nepali Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, has come mainly to hand over the invitation letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Prime Minister Oli for his proposed visit to India on September 16 and 17.

Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava was also present

The Indian Embassy said that Misri reaffirmed the deep civilisational ties and strong India-Nepal partnership and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in various fields. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava was also present during the meeting. During the meeting with President Paudel, the Foreign Secretary conveyed best wishes from the Indian leadership and informed about the progress in bilateral relations.

He also met Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba. A Raj Pathak, an adviser to Deuba, said they stressed the need to enhance air connectivity between Nepal and India and requested India to provide additional air routes for Nepal.

Deuba stressed the need for direct air connectivity between New Delhi and Nepalgunj and drew attention to the need to enhance connectivity between Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport and Indian cities. Later, Misri met Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML President and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.
