News Topical, Digital Desk : A major commotion occurred on a Lufthansa Airlines flight from the US to Germany. Praneet Kumar Usillipalli, a 28-year-old Indian national, attacked two teenage passengers with a fork during the flight and also attempted to slap a crew member.

The incident occurred on Saturday on a flight from Chicago to Frankfurt. The attack forced the plane to make an emergency landing at Boston's Logan International Airport. At that time, many flights were already disrupted due to the US government shutdown

Fork stabbed in the back of the head

According to the report, Praneet attacked two 17-year-old boys. The first boy was sleeping in his seat after meal service when he opened his eyes to find the accused standing over him. He then attacked the boy's shoulder with a fork. He then stabbed the second boy sitting nearby in the head with a fork from behind.

When the flight crew tried to intervene, the accused pointed a pistol at him with his finger and pretended to put it in his mouth and pull the trigger, causing panic among the passengers.

Slapped a female passenger

During the altercation, Praneet slapped a female passenger and also attempted to assault a crew member. According to officials, the accused was previously in the US on a student visa pursuing a Masters in Biblical Studies, but his legal status is now invalid.

How much can the punishment be ?

According to the US Attorney's Office, he has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and intent to cause bodily harm. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 (approximately Rs 2 crore).
