News Topical, Digital Desk : European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's plane came into danger on Sunday while going to Bulgaria. During the flight, the GPS system suddenly stopped working and the pilots were forced to land the flight using the old method i.e. paper maps.

Officials say that this interference may have been deliberate interference by Russia. A European Union spokesperson confirmed that the plane's GPS system was jammed. However, the plane was safely landed in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv.

What came out in the investigation?

Bulgarian authorities investigated and found that the incident was not a simple technical fault, but a deliberate tampering by an external force. Bulgarian security agencies believe that Russia may have been involved in disrupting the GPS system.

British newspaper Financial Times quoted three officials as saying that the plane had to land without GPS and the pilots used paper maps. However, according to news agency Reuters, this claim could not be independently confirmed.
