The story of Dum Maro Dum
Zeenat Aman has shared a photo of the song Dum Maaro Dum on her Instagram handle and has written a long note stating that she was really drunk during the shooting of the song. The actress wrote, "We were shooting 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' in Kathmandu and Dev Sahab had gathered a bunch of hippies from the streets to be a part of the song. Which song? The picture itself tells it - Dum Maaro Dum."
Shooting was done with hippies
Zeenat Aman added, "The hippie extras were very happy with their luck. Not only were they getting a chance to pack their chillum with hashish in beautiful Nepal, but they were also getting free food, they were going to work in a Bollywood film and get paid for it."
Really drink chillum for the character
Zeenat said, "Now Dev sahab ( Dev Anand ) wanted reality in this sequence. My character, the drunk Janice, had to look really drunk and the easiest way to achieve this was to take part in the hippie prasad. I was a teenager at the time and was continuously taking long puffs from his chillum for the take."
Zeenat Aman was intoxicated
Zeenat told that after the shooting she was intoxicated. She was happy, but she was also feeling dizzy and was not in a condition to return to the hotel. Then the team members took her in a car to a beautiful place and there she thought about the Himalayas in the cold mountain air and gradually her intoxication subsided.
Mother was furious with anger
Zeenat told how angry her mother was when she found out about this. According to the actress, "When my mother found out what had happened, she was very angry and scolded the senior crew members for allowing her beloved daughter to do 'drugs'. Luckily I was saved from her wrath. What can one do? I was like a flower baby in the 70s.
It is known that in the month of October, Zeenat Aman will go to Mumbai, Delhi and Jaipur and share interesting stories related to the film set through a live band.
