Why do stars prefer to remain silent?

In fact, while talking to ANI, Taapsee has told why many people in the film industry prefer to remain silent on political matters despite having strong personal beliefs.

We have our own politics. It doesn't always have to be linked to a particular kind of politics. The decision to speak or remain silent is often influenced by the fear of backlash. People want to remain silent because they think it might cause a problem.

Further, the actress said that stars are often monitored closely. Their words are scrutinized. Generally, people have a perception about stars, especially female actors, that they lack intelligence or awareness about social and political issues.

Stars have low IQ

Not only this, she further said that it is believed that stars have low IQ. People think that they might not know anything. Especially if she is a woman, then they think how dare you have an opinion. This is the reason why no one expresses their opinion.

Taapsee also stressed that this situation creates a contradiction for actors. I think it is a double-edged sword. If you have an opinion, it is still a problem. If you don't have an opinion, it is still a problem. For stars, it is often a situation where they cannot win. Whether they want to speak or remain silent, they have to face criticism from one side or the other.
