New Delhi: One name in the list of hit films of the year 1999 is Baadshah. Abbas-Mustan directed the film. Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna were in the lead roles. On the completion of 25 years of Baadshah, producer Ratan Jain has shared an interesting anecdote related to the film. He told that Karisma Kapoor was the first choice for the movie and not Twinkle.

Karishma Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan have worked together in films like Shakti the Power and Dil Toh Pagal Hai and the audience liked their pairing. They were also supposed to work together in Baadshah, but Karishma could not do this film. She had almost signed the film.

Karisma Kapoor was the first choice for Badshah

Film producer Ratan Jain has revealed in a conversation with Bollywood Hungama that Karisma Kapoor was the first choice for Badshah before Twinkle Khanna. According to the producer, "First we had chosen Karisma Kapoor. She was almost finalized, but then for some reason she could not come. Then we looked at some options and finally we finalized Twinkle Khanna.

Producer's statement contrary to director's

On one hand, Ratan Jain has called Karisma Kapoor his first choice, on the other hand, in an interview given in 2019, Abbas Mustan had called Twinkle Khanna his first choice in Baadshah . When he was asked if actresses like Manisha Koirala, Karisma Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty and Anupama Verma were approached for Twinkle's role, Abbas said that Twinkle was his first choice. Not only this, he also rejected the news of approaching Akshay Kumar instead of Shah Rukh. He said that Shah Rukh was his only choice for Baadshah.
