News Topical, Digital Desk : Roadways' 52-seater, air-conditioned electric buses began operating from Gorakhpur to Ayodhya, Sonauli, and Tamkuhi on Friday. These buses will run regularly from the Gorakhpur bus station.
Buses will run once daily from Gorakhpur to Ayodhya, and two daily trips each to Sonauli and Tamkuhi. Electric buses will soon run from Gorakhpur to Varanasi. Preparations are almost complete.
These buses will also charge the same fare as regular AC buses. The first electric bus was flagged off from the Gorakhpur station premises under the leadership of Transport Corporation Regional Manager Luv Kumar Singh and Service Manager Mukesh Kumar.
On the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Gorakhpur region has received 20 electric buses in the first phase. Six of these buses will operate to Varanasi. Of the buses going to Varanasi, three will operate via the Ghazipur route and three via the Azamgarh route.
In addition, three buses will run to Ayodhya, three to Ballia, three to Sonauli, three to Tamkuhiraj, and two to Lar Road. The route chart for the electric buses has been designed to provide better connectivity to all important cities and tourist destinations in Purvanchal.
The electric buses will have a range of approximately 225 km on a single charge. Charging points will be set up at the Gorakhpur depot as well as other major stations. The buses are fully charged in half to one hour.
According to the regional manager, drivers and conductors have been deployed to operate the buses. Thirty-five conductors have been trained separately to ensure smooth bus operation.
