News Topical, Digital Desk : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday raided several locations in Chhattisgarh as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the payment of land acquisition compensation for the Bharatmala Project road between Raipur and Visakhapatnam.
According to sources, an official said that searches are being conducted at at least nine locations in the state capital Raipur and Mahasamund.
In which case did ED raid?
According to news agency PTI, the entire matter is related to alleged irregularities in the payment of compensation for land acquisition for the Raipur-Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor under the Bharatmala project.
Officials say that under this operation, action is being taken against the premises linked to Harmeet Singh Khanuja, his alleged associates, some government officials and landowners.
What is Bharatmala Project?
It is worth noting that the 'Bharatmala Pariyojana' envisages the development of about 26,000 km of economic corridors, which are expected to take the majority of freight traffic off roads, along with the Golden Quadrilateral and the North-South and East-West corridors.
