News Topical, Digital Desk : Whether cooking vegetables or lentils and rice, a pressure cooker is used in every household. It saves time and helps cook food quickly. Sometimes, while cooking lentils, the pressure cooker whistle causes the water to leak out, leaving the kitchen stove, gas stove, and spice containers dirty and food wasted.

If you are also troubled by this, then let us know about some easy hacks and tips with the help of which you can avoid this problem.

Check the whistle and rubber

Sometimes, spilling can be caused by an old or worn whistle and rubber ring. To avoid this problem, keep the whistle and rubber thoroughly clean . Also, install the whistle correctly and use the correct rubber. If you notice the rubber is damaged, replace it immediately, otherwise cooking may be difficult.

Fill the pressure cooker only halfway.

Water often overflows from a pressure cooker, and one major reason for this is that the cooker contains too much water. Most people fill the pressure cooker completely, preventing the contents from expanding and causing the water to boil out through the whistle. Therefore, add only the required amount of water to the pressure cooker so that the food cooks quickly and without any hassle.

Use oil or ghee

As soon as the pressure cooker whistles, the water from the lentils starts to leak out. Add 1-2 tablespoons of oil or ghee to the pressure cooker while adding the lentils. This prevents foam from forming and helps the lentils cook more easily. The oil or ghee also enhances the flavor of the lentils and prevents water from leaking out.

Cook on low heat

If the pressure cooker is on high heat , the lentils will boil quickly, increasing the risk of spilling. Therefore, cook food over low or medium heat. A low heat ensures proper cooking and prevents boiling. Also, avoid using too much water in the cooker.
