Tehreek-e-Labbaik suspected of murder
This is the third murder from the Ahmadiyya community in Punjab in the last two months. Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Pakistan (JAP) suspected that Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) may be behind the murder of Dr Sheikh Mahmood.
According to JAP, Sargodha has been a stronghold of anti-Ahmadiyya activities. Dr. Mahmood used to receive threats from extremists. He had to leave his government job under pressure from TLP. Now JAP has demanded security for the Ahmadiyya community from the government.
Dr. Mahmood is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons. Human rights groups have expressed strong displeasure over this murder and have demanded a quick investigation.
