News Topical, Digital Desk : Bihar News: A major accident took place in Nauhatta of Rohtas district on Saturday (May 17, 2025). Three people who went to bathe in the Son river drowned. The police was informed about the accident. Divers were called on the spot. The search for the three was started. Divers recovered a body from the Son river. The deceased has been identified as Ritesh Sharma.

According to the information received, the victims of the accident include a father and son along with another member of the family. 65-year-old Nageshwar Sharma had entered the Son river with his 20-year-old son Ranjan. Another member of the family, Ritesh Sharma, also became a victim of the accident while bathing. All three drowned in the Son river due to lack of estimation of the depth. The father and son who drowned in the Son river have not been found yet. A search operation is being conducted by divers. After the incident, the family members are inconsolable.

Accident while bathing in Son river

It is said that all the people had gone from Qazipur village to attend the last rites of Uday Sharma's mother. Uday Sharma's mother was cremated at Ulli Son Ghat. After the cremation, some people went to take a bath in the river. In this sequence, all three became victims of the accident. With the efforts of the local people, divers have recovered the body of Ritesh Sharma from the river. The father and son have not been traced yet. Divers are engaged in searching for both of them. Administrative officials are keeping an eye on the situation.

One body recovered, search for two continues

After the accident, there is a mourning silence in the village. On the news of drowning of a middle aged man and two youths, a huge crowd of people gathered even in the scorching heat. Actually, many ghats have become dangerous due to illegal mining of sand in the Son river. Due to excessive erosion of sand at many places, dangerous pits have been formed in the river. In view of the accidents happening every day, the administration has issued an advisory. In the advisory, people have been advised to stay away from the Son river. Recently, an accident took place at a ghat of the Son river near Tumba village. Seven children died due to drowning while bathing. Despite the accident, the advice of the administration is not having any effect on the people.
