Diwali 2025 Puja Rituals

• On the day of worship, wake up early in the morning, clean the house and take a bath.
• Purify the place of worship and the house by sprinkling Ganga water.
• Spread a red or yellow cloth on a clean stool.
• Make a seat of rice on the platform and place Lord Ganesha and Goddess Mahalakshmi on it.
• Make a heap of rice and light a big unbroken lamp of ghee.
• Place a pot filled with water on the right side of the platform.
• Put coin, betel nut and turmeric in the Kalash.
• Place mango leaves on its mouth and place a coconut on it.
• Apply tilak to them.
• Offer flowers and garlands.
• Offer puffed rice, sugar cane, sweets and fruits etc. to the Mother Goddess.
• Chant Vedic mantras.
• First perform the aarti of Lord Ganesha and then of Goddess Lakshmi.
• Ask for forgiveness for any mistakes made during the puja.
• After the puja is over, light lamps in all the corners of the house, doors, windows and courtyard.
