News Topical, Digital Desk : 'Illegal' surrogacy has been exposed in Hyderabad. In fact, when a couple got a DNA test done, it was found that the child born through surrogacy was not theirs. The couple informed the police about this matter.

The police have arrested ten people including the doctor. Dr. Namrata is the manager of Universal Srishti Fertility Center located in Regimental Bazaar. The police have also raided the center.

What did the couple say?

The couple from Rajasthan, who live in Secunderabad, said they had paid Rs 35 lakh to the clinic for the surrogacy procedure last year. After the birth of the child this year, Dr Namrata repeatedly deferred their request for DNA verification of the surrogate mother.

After this, the couple got an independent DNA test done in Delhi. The truth came out that the child had no biological relation with them. That is, the child of the couple was not a biological child.

The couple's samples were sent to Visakhapatnam

Police informed that the couple was sent to another branch of the clinic in Visakhapatnam for collection of samples and were told that a surrogate would be arranged by the clinic and the embryo would be implanted in the surrogate.

Over the course of nine months, the couple made multiple payments to the clinic. In June this year, the complainant was informed that the surrogate woman had given birth to a boy through a caesarean section in Visakhapatnam. The clinic charged the couple over Rs 35 lakh as consultation fees in the name of procedures.

The doctor used to lure the women who came for abortion

On this incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad North Zone, Mrs. Rashmi Perumal said that Dr Namrata and her associates used to target women who came for abortion.

They were asked to continue the pregnancy by offering money or other inducements and later their children were sold to others in the name of surrogacy. Police said that the biological mother of the child belongs to Assam and is currently living in Hyderabad.
