News Topical, Digital Desk : Dhanteras 2025: The festival of Dhanteras is celebrated on the thirteenth day of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Kartik. Worshiping Kubera, the god of wealth, and Lord Dhanvantari, the father of Ayurveda, holds special significance on this day. It is believed that worshipping on this auspicious day brings happiness and prosperity to the home and ensures good health for everyone in the family.
This year the festival of Dhanteras is being celebrated on 18th October, Saturday i.e. today, so let us know the important things related to it.
Auspicious time to buy gold and silver (Sona-Chandi Kharidne Ka Samay)
- The auspicious time to buy gold and silver on Dhanteras will be from 08:50 am to 10:33 am.

Puja Rituals
- On the evening of Dhanteras, perform puja in the north-east corner of the house during the auspicious time.
- Spread a red or yellow cloth on a clean stool.
- Install the idols of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Dhanvantari and Kuber ji on it.
- Keep a pot filled with water.
- Take water and rice in your hand and take a resolution to perform the puja.
- First of all meditate on Lord Ganesha and offer him tilak, flowers and durva.
Worship of Lord Dhanvantari (Lord Dhanvantari Puja Vidhi)
- Offer things like roli, Akshat, clothes and yellow flowers etc. to Dhanvantari ji.
- Offer them basil leaves and cow's milk or butter.
- Chant this mantra 'Om Namo Bhagwate Dhanvantraya Vishnurupay Namo Namah' for good health and longevity.
Worship of Lord Kubera (Kubera ji puja vidhi)
- Apply roli-chandan tilak to Kuber ji, offer flowers and light a ghee lamp.
- Offer them white sweets or kheer.
- For wealth and prosperity, chant this mantra 'Om Yakshay Kuberaya Vaishravanaya Dhandhaanyadhipataye Dhandhaanyasamriddhi Me Dehi Dapay Swaha.' Chant.
Aarti and lighting of lamps (Aarti and Yam Dipak)
Finally, perform aarti for Goddess Lakshmi, Kubera, and Dhanvantari.
After the puja, light a four-sided lamp at the main entrance of the house, facing south. This lamp is dedicated to Lord Yama, known as "Yama Deepdan." It protects the family from illness and ill effects.
