News Topical, Digital Desk : The Bar Council of India has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, expressing serious institutional concern over the "baseless and reckless" oral observations made by a single judge of the Kerala High Court in connection with the Kerala Bar Council elections.

Bar Council of India (BCI) Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra said in the letter that these comments were made while challenging the nomination fee fixed for the Kerala Bar Council elections, while the High Courts and other courts are barred from considering petitions related to the elections under the binding directions of the Supreme Court.

"The BCI has often been acutely aware of the excesses, lapses, and irregularities in certain parts of the judicial system. Yet, it has deliberately maintained silence to preserve the dignity, credibility, and majesty of the judiciary," the letter said.

The BCI president requested the Chief Justice to consider issuing appropriate advice or directions and urged that election-related matters be limited to the special mechanism established by the Supreme Court. If such attacks continue, lawyers will be compelled to resort to legal mass protests and agitations through their representative bodies.
