New Delhi. Heavy rains occurred in Delhi and Delhi NCR on Wednesday. In the evening, light to moderate rain was recorded at some places and moderate to heavy rain at other places. As a result, till this morning, the streets of people's houses have become drains.

There is waterlogging and traffic jam at many places in Delhi. The highest rainfall was recorded in Mayur Vihar in East Delhi. Here 119 mm of rain fell in three hours. The Delhi government had to order the closure of schools for August 1 (Thursday).

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi also posted on her X handle and said that all schools under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will remain closed on August 1 in view of the forecast of adverse weather conditions. Oberoi wrote on 'X' In view of the forecast of incessant rain and adverse weather conditions in the national capital, all MCD schools will remain closed tomorrow, 1st August 2024.   • Heavy rain in Delhi in the next two hours-IMD

IMD (Delhi On Rain Red Alert) issued a red alert for rain. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is covered with clouds from all directions, due to which Delhiites are advised to avoid traveling unless necessary. IMD posted on its X, "Clouds from all four areas have gathered in Delhi. In the next two hours, Delhi is likely to receive widespread light to moderate rain and heavy to very heavy rain (3-5 cm / h) at some places."

  • 10 flights affected in Delhi due to bad weather

According to airport sources, 10 flights were reported to have been diverted between 7.30 pm and 8 pm in Delhi due to bad weather, ANI reported. Severe waterlogging was observed near AIIMS following incessant rains in the national capital. Traffic jams were also witnessed in Delhi's ITO area following the rains in the city.

A woman and her child drowned after falling into a water-filled drain in Ghazipur area of ​​East Delhi on Wednesday following heavy rains in the national capital. The deceased were identified as Tanuja (22) and her child Priyansh (3), residents of Prakash Nagar Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad. Apart from this, a man named Anil Gupta died after the roof of a clothes shop collapsed in Sabzi Mandi area of ​​Malkaganj ward of Delhi.

After heavy rain on Wednesday, waterlogging occurred at many places in Delhi. Regarding which, Delhi Traffic Police (Delhi Traffic Advisory) has now posted on social media saying that the waterlogging has been cleared.
