According to reports, visibility was very low in many areas of Delhi on Tuesday morning, causing vehicles to crawl on the roads.
Dense fog is causing problems for people
According to the Meteorological Department, visibility dropped to around 100 meters in the Palam and Safdarjung areas on Tuesday morning. The dense fog caused significant disruptions for office-goers and school buses. Cold and icy winds further exacerbated the chill. However, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius, slightly above normal.
Yellow alert in Delhi due to dense fog
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of dense fog in Delhi for Wednesday. A yellow alert has been issued in view of this. The department says that light fog may occur in some areas in the morning, while dense fog may occur in many places. Wind speeds will not be very high. Winds are expected to blow from the north and northwest at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is expected to be between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius.
The AQI was recorded above 300 on Tuesday.
Along with the weather , pollution also remains a major concern for Delhiites. Due to low wind speed, polluted particles remain trapped in the air. On Tuesday, 17 areas of Delhi recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) above 300, which falls in the "very poor" category. The capital's average AQI was 272, 62 points higher than the previous day. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, there is little hope of relief from pollution for the next two days.
