Delhi Metro Phase 4: There is good news for the people of Delhi. Phase-4 of Delhi Metro is going to bring a new color soon. The section of the Pink Line from Majlis Park to Jagatpur Village is now ready to open. Last week, the Metro Safety Commissioner inspected this route and after some minor improvements, this section will open for passengers in just a few days. This means that the dream of Metro for the people living in the crowded areas of Delhi like Burari, Jharoda and Jagatpur is now going to become a reality!
New color of Pink Line
The Pink Line was first built from Majlis Park to Maujpur and Shiv Vihar. Now it is being extended further in Phase-4. Let us tell you that three new stations - Burari, Jharoda Majra and Jagatpur Village - are ready from Majlis Park to Jagatpur. These three stations are elevated and will connect those areas of Delhi where people are stuck in traffic for hours.
What is the plan ahead?
The metro will cross the Yamuna river from Jagatpur and go to Maujpur-Babarpur via Surghat, Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar. This part may take another 6 months to complete. The special thing is that a "double decker flyover" is also being built on Wazirabad Road between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar. Its specialty? Road below, flyover above it and metro line above the flyover! That means double benefit of traffic and metro!
Majlis Park will become a big hub
After the new line from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram is built in Phase-4, Majlis Park Metro Station will become a big "interchange station". This will make the journey from North Delhi to West Delhi, Central Delhi and New Delhi easier. Along with this, the traffic burden on Wazirabad Road and Ring Road will also be reduced.
Pink Line will become a ring line
By the end of this year, when the entire stretch from Majlis Park to Maujpur is completed, the Pink Line will take the shape of a round ring. It will start from Maujpur and end at Maujpur, just like the ring road. This will be the first such line of Delhi Metro, which will make a complete circle in itself. The connectivity will be so great that you will be able to roam in many parts of Delhi without any interruption.
How long will the Pink Line be?
Earlier the Pink Line was 57.49 km long, which had 38 stations. It had 11 interchange stations, which made it the longest line of Delhi Metro. Now after the extension of Phase-4, 12.32 km and 8 new stations will be added to it. That means the total length will be around 70 km and the number of stations will be 46. This is a record in itself!
What will be the benefit?
- People living in densely populated areas like Burari, Jharoda, Jagatpur will get the facility of metro.
- There will be relief from traffic jams.
- Traveling from one corner of Delhi to another will be easy and fast.
- The environment will also benefit, because the use of vehicles will be reduced.
Delhi's ministers and MPs will review the preparations.
This week, Delhi's Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and North-East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari will personally visit this route and inspect the preparations. DMRC's Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar has also held a meeting with the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary. If everything goes well, you will be able to travel in the metro on this new route by the end of April.
