Dehradun News: Dehradun Police has increased vigilance after the terrorist incident in Pahalgam , Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. In order to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students residing and studying in the district, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun has issued guidelines to all the jurisdictional officers and station in-charges of the district. They have been ordered to stay in touch with the Kashmiri students living in their respective areas and ensure their safety.

At present, a total of 1201 Kashmiri students are studying in various educational institutions of Dehradun district. The police have collected the details of these students and completed the verification process. Along with this, efforts are being made at various levels giving priority to their security.

In the meeting, necessary instructions were given to PG operators.
In this sequence, a seminar was organized today under the chairmanship of Senior Superintendent of Police at Bidholi Chowki. In this, all those educational institutions and PG (paying guest) managers were invited where Kashmiri students are studying or residing. During the seminar, information related to the students was taken from the representatives of these institutions and necessary guidelines related to security were provided to them.

 

Police officials asked the heads of institutes and PG operators to maintain communication with the students residing there and immediately inform the police in case of any kind of security concern. Along with this, instructions were also given to assure the students that the administration is fully committed towards their safety.

In order to further strengthen the security of the PAC deployed for the safety of the students,
additional PAC forces have been deployed in the areas where Kashmiri students reside. These forces are patrolling regularly and are playing an important role in strengthening the security system.

Apart from keeping a close watch on social media
, the social media monitoring cell formed at the district level has also been activated to monitor any kind of objectionable and provocative content on social media. So far, 25 such objectionable posts have been removed from social media platforms. Also, a case has been registered against an organization under hate speech and other sections for inciting religious sentiments. The police has also got the related post deleted.

Dehradun Police has made it clear that under no circumstances will there be any compromise on the safety of Kashmiri students. The general public has also been appealed not to pay heed to any rumours or inflammatory material and cooperate with the administration in maintaining peace.
