Pahalgam Terror Attack: Jennifer Nathaniel (54), who lost her husband in the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, had gone to the picturesque tourist spot to spend some happy moments with her family, but the trip gave her lifelong pain.

At least 26 people were killed and many others injured when terrorists attacked a major tourist spot in Baisaran, popularly known as 'Mini Switzerland', in Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Tuesday. Most of the deceased were tourists, including Jennifer's husband Sushil Nathaniel (58).

Nathaniel was posted as a manager of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) in Alirajpur, about 200 km from Indore. The terrorists shot Nathaniel's daughter Akanksha (35) in the leg and injured her. Jennifer and her son Austin alias Goldie (25) survived the terrorist attack safely.

When Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava reached Nathaniel's house on Thursday evening to condole his death, his wife Jennifer told him about the terrorist attack as she had seen it. Jennifer said, "Before shooting, the terrorists asked my husband to recite Kalma. My husband told them that he is a Christian and he does not know how to recite Kalma. My husband had told the truth." She said that during the panic created during the terrorist attack, she fell on the ground and became unconscious.

Jennifer said with a choked throat and hiccups, "When I regained consciousness, it was evening and the cold had increased. I felt that one side of my body had become numb and I was unable to move. As I turned my neck and looked, I saw that my husband was lying face down on the ground, unconscious."

Jennifer said, "When I regained consciousness, I also saw that two attackers were taking photos of each other. These attackers were wearing jeans and T-shirts, while another attacker was wearing the traditional long dress of Kashmiris (pheran)."

Jennifer said that after some time all three attackers started moving towards her. She said, "The attackers must have thought that there was some sudden movement in my body which was lying unconscious till now, but then the sound of a helicopter was heard and the attackers disappeared from my sight while walking."

Jennifer told how during the terrorist attack the sound of bullets was echoing in her ears and whoever could find a place was running away to save himself. She said, "I have seen many dead bodies. Right now whenever I close my eyes, I can see those scenes only."
