Teacher's Day: VVS Laxman had a special connection with the second President of India

Actually, Teachers' Day is celebrated every year on 5 September in India. On this day, everyone appreciates the important contribution of teachers. Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of India, was also a famous philosopher, politician and teacher. He suggested celebrating his birthday as Teachers' Day instead of celebrating it as his personal celebration, so that the importance of teachers in the society can be recognized.

Let us tell you that Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on 15 September 1888 in Thiruttani, Tamil Nadu. He was the fourth of 6 children of his parents Sarvepalli Veeraswami and Sithamma. His family was from Sarvepalli village in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Radhakrishnan's father worked as an assistant revenue officer for a local landlord.

Seeing poverty in the family, he married a distant relative, Sivakama, at the age of just 16. His marriage lasted for 53 years, but his wife did not survive until she passed away in 1956. He had five daughters and a son. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan had a deep relationship with former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman.
