News Topical, Digital Desk : Aditya Dhar's upcoming film Dhurandhar has crossed a major hurdle as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared its release.

The story of the film was told as fictional

This decision follows concerns from Major Mohit Sharma's parents, who approached the Delhi High Court seeking a ban on the film. After a detailed review, the CBFC has now certified the film, calling it a work of fiction and stating that it bears no direct or indirect resemblance to the late officer's life. The film has been granted an A certificate by the censor board.

The board also stated that there was no need to send the film to the Indian Army for further scrutiny, clearing the last hurdle in the certification process and clearing it for release on 5 December.

An application was filed in the Delhi High Court

The controversy erupted when the parents of Major Mohit Sharma filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, alleging that the film depicted real-life individuals without their consent. They requested that the CBFC re-examine the film before granting certification. Rupenshu Pratap Singh, the family's lawyer, told ANI that the court directed the CBFC to conduct a detailed investigation.

The High Court directed the CBFC to consider all the points raised by the petitioner. After that, they will decide on the certification issue, which is still pending. It hasn't been issued yet, so let the CBFC consider all the points raised by the petitioner or the parents of the late Major Mohit Sharma. They also stated that if there are any issues related to the Army, the Army's competent authority, the ADGPI, should also consider those points and submit them to the CBFC.

The CBFC has now completed its reconsideration, overruled the objections, and cleared the way for the film's certification in accordance with the guidelines. With the board's approval, the makers can release the film on schedule.
