Shubham Jaiswal declared a fugitive, order on the application of Rohaniya police

Additional Sessions Judge/Fast Track (14th Finance Commission) Manoj Kumar on Monday declared Shubham Jaiswal, the kingpin of the 2,000 crore cough syrup smuggling case, a fugitive for the second time. The court passed the order on a petition filed by the Rohaniya police. If Shubham is still unaccounted for, the police will confiscate his property on court orders.

The Police Commissionerate administration is already making efforts to secure the extradition of the kingpin hiding in Dubai by issuing a Red Corner Notice. Among the accused, the Rohaniya police have only one pending action against a cough syrup smuggler from Ghaziabad.

On November 19th of last year, Rohania police seized more than 500 cases of cough syrup hidden in a warehouse in a gym in Bhadwar and registered a case under the NDPS Act. The Rohania police investigation revealed the names of Azad Jaiswal, Mahesh Singh, Bhola Prasad (Shubham's father), Shivakant alias Shiva, Swapnil Kesari, Dinesh Yadav, Manish Yadav, and Shubham Yadav, against whom the police filed a charge sheet in court.

The police have put all the accused behind bars except Shubham. The Rohania police station in-charge stated that to tighten the noose around Shubham, the investigating officer, Inspector Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, continued the paperwork and took action against him, including issuing non-bailable warrants and proclamations of attachment.

In this regard, an application was filed in court on Monday to declare him a fugitive, and the court passed the order. In compliance with the court order, the police posted the proclamation at Shubham's residence and at a prominent location in the court. Special Public Prosecutors Sunil Kumar Singh and Arvind Srivastava represented the prosecution.
