News Topical, Digital Desk : If you had insured your vehicle and the insurance company is not paying your claim now, then you need not worry. You can get justice by filing a complaint with the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission through the E-Jagriti portal. A similar incident happened with a consumer in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu, for whom the Commission got Rs 14 lakh 80 thousand from the bank and the insurance company. Actually, here a consumer had purchased a commercial vehicle for his work. He had taken a loan from the bank for this, and had got the vehicle insured for Rs 4.8 lakh. Then on December 9, 2020, his vehicle was stolen.
The insurance company and the bank had committed such excesses
It should be noted that after the car was stolen, the consumer immediately went to the police station and filed a complaint. He then notified the insurance company and bank, but the car was never found. Despite this, the insurance company delayed settling the claim. Meanwhile, the bank charged the consumer the full amount plus interest.
Complaint to the Commission in this easy way
Following this, the aggrieved consumer, hoping for justice, filed a complaint with the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission through the E-Jagriti portal on March 13, 2025. After reviewing all the documents and hearing arguments, the Commission found that the insurance company had violated the terms of the contract. The insurance company did not pay the claim. Furthermore, the bank also charged unreasonable interest.
The commission awarded Rs 14 lakh 80 thousand to the consumer.
On May 28, 2025, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered the insurance company to pay the consumer ₹480,000, along with 12% interest. The bank must also refund the improperly charged interest. Furthermore, the insurance company and the bank must jointly pay ₹10 lakh as compensation to the consumer.
