News Topical, Digital Desk : Communist Party of India (CPI) MP P. Sandosh Kumar on Monday (November 24) blamed the Congress for the Grand Alliance's crushing defeat in Bihar. He alleged that the country's main opposition party failed to coordinate with all political forces in the state. He also said that his party would try to strengthen itself as a "third front" in the state. It should be noted that the CPI is part of the Grand Alliance in Bihar.

Responding to a question on the Bihar election results, Rajya Sabha member Kumar said, "The Congress's top leadership campaigned in Bihar, but the party showed no interest in coordinating with all political forces." He also pointed to "friendly contests" between the Grand Alliance constituents in several seats.

'The grand alliance has not emerged as a force'

When asked about the winter session of Parliament, the CPI MP blamed the Congress for the inability of opposition parties to coordinate issues during the parliamentary sessions. He said, "The grand alliance did not emerge as a force. There was infighting among political parties, with the Congress being a major reason because, as the largest party in the opposition camp, they could have done better. They did not take any initiative."

We could have performed better – CPI

He further said, "Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and all the big leaders of Congress went to campaign in Bihar, but at the same time they were not showing much interest in coordinating all the forces. Therefore, these people were responsible for the defeat of the Grand Alliance. In fact, we could have performed better, but it was not possible due to this lethargic attitude of the Congress party. They contested against CPI on four seats, they contested against RJD on many seats."

Many attempts were made to influence voters – CPI

The CPI MP accused the NDA of making several attempts to influence voters, citing other key factors like giving Rs 10,000 to women under the SIR and the Chief Minister's Women Employment Scheme, but when we consider other factors, the Congress's inaction or inability to coordinate with secular forces is a major reason. At least the performance could have been better.

Will play the role of third front in Bihar- P Sandosh

He said, "I hope that the CPI will play the role of a third front in Bihar in the coming days. Third front in the sense that there are two powerful fronts, and the CPI is currently part of the Grand Alliance. But in the coming days, it will raise various public welfare issues in Bihar. The CPI has that capability, its political vision is clear, and we have done that in Bihar in the past. So, personally, my aspiration is to make it a big, huge, emerging alternative force on the soil of Bihar."
