
News Topical, Digital Desk : These days , the Yamuna river is in a terrible form in Mathura , Uttar Pradesh . The rising water level for the last four days has created flood - like conditions in the city and surrounding areas . Today , on Monday ( September 1), at 7 pm, the water level of Yamuna reached 166.26 meters, which is 26 centimeters above the danger mark of 166 meters. The administration has come into alert mode as soon as the warning level crossed 165.20 meters . The colonies located on the banks of the river , link roads of villages and fields have been completely submerged, due to which the lives of thousands of people have been disrupted.
The district administration has imposed a complete ban on bathing at Vishram Ghat, Prayag Ghat and Vrindavan Ghats, as the steps of most of the ghats have been submerged in water. The most affected by the rising water level of Yamuna are dozens of colonies of Jaisinghpura , Kalindi Vihar, Bhakti Vihar, Shyam Nagar, Mohini Nagar and Vrindavan . The roads here are flooded with water up to 3-4 feet , due to which traffic has come to a complete halt. People are coming out of their homes with the help of tubes or boats.
Apart from this, the strong current of water has washed away the roads on Nauhjheel-Shergarh road . The situation is more serious in villages like Akosh, Kailash and Chhinparai of Baldev, Mahavan tehsil. Paddy, millet, sorghum, peanuts and green vegetables standing in the fields here have completely submerged. Farmers are suffering huge financial losses due to the destruction of hundreds of acres of crops. The administration has immediately started relief work. The District Magistrate inspected the flood-affected areas and distributed ration, drinking water and medical aid to 200 families.
Let us tell you that after heavy rains in the hilly areas, lakhs of cusecs of water is being released from Tajewala , Okhla and Hathinikund barrage in Muna . At the same time , 82 thousand cusecs of water is being discharged towards Agra from Gokul Barrage .
