
News Topical, Digital Desk : The market witnessed a rise for the second consecutive day in the Sensex expiry session. The market closed with gains on Tuesday and outperformance was seen in the broader market. However, Nifty once again failed to maintain the level of 25,000 in intraday. This was the second consecutive session when Nifty could not sustain after crossing 25,000.
At what level did the market close?
After a full day's work on Tuesday, the Sensex closed at 81,644, up 371 points, and the Nifty closed at 24,981, up 104 points. Nifty Bank closed at 55,865, up 130 points. The Nifty Midcap index closed at 57,665, up 551 points.
Which stocks showed action? Reliance Industries contributed the most to the Nifty's rise today. RIL saw a 3% rise today due to the news of Jio's tariff hike. Auto stocks saw a rise due to the news of China lifting the ban on rare earth magnets. Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, Samvardhan Motherson and Sona BLW were included in the list of fastest-growing stocks in the auto sector. Buying continued in new age stocks. Eternal and Paytm topped the list of fastest-growing stocks. Textile stocks saw action due to reduction in import duty on cotton by the government. Raymond closed with a gain of 11%. Jayaswal Neco closed with a gain of 10% with strong volumes. Short covering was seen in PNB Housing Finance. This stock closed with a gain of 4% today after coming out of the F&O ban. FMCG and consumer durable stocks saw a rise on expectations of GST reduction. These stocks closed with a gain of 2-3%. Glenmark Pharma was under pressure. GAIL also closed with a gain of 1%. Astral and Supreme Industries closed with a gain of 2-4%. On Tuesday, after weakness in 2 stocks, 5 stocks saw a rise in the market.
