News Topical, Digital Desk : The domestic stock market closed flat on the day of Nifty weekly expiry. Sensex and Nifty closed flat on Thursday. Nifty Bank closed with gains. The midcap index saw a decline. Apart from select financial stocks, the market also got support from IT stocks. But, metal stocks created pressure.
At what level did the market close?
After a full day's work on Thursday, the Sensex closed with a marginal gain of 58 points at 80,598. Nifty also closed at 24,631, up only 12 points. Nifty Bank saw a gain of 160 points and closed at 55,342. The Nifty Midcap index fell 177 points to close at 56,504.
Which stocks showed action today HDFC Life continued to rise today as well. On the back of positive sentiment, the stock closed with a gain of 2%. Wipro and Infosys closed with a gain of 2% after reports of receiving orders. Max Healthcare continued to decline after poor results and today the stock closed down by 4%. NMDC slipped 4% more. PI Industries also continues to decline. Muthoot Finance closed at a record level with a gain of 10% after strong results. Manappuram Finance closed with a gain of 4%. Info Edge closed with a gain of 4%. Ashok Leyland closed with a gain of 2% after the first quarter results. JSW Cements saw a sluggish listing.
How was the market this week? The market closed in the green on a weekly basis after 6 consecutive weeks. Nifty has recovered the decline of last week. Sensex, Nifty and Midcap index closed with a gain of 1%. Nifty Bank closed with a gain of half a percent. Apart from FMCG, all other indices saw a rise this week. Pharma saw the highest growth. This week, 40 out of 50 Nifty stocks saw a rise. Apollo Hospital, Eternal and Cipla saw the highest growth. Alkem Lab, Paytm, Jindal Stainless, Nykaa and Uno Minda saw a rise in the midcap index.
