In today's busy life, pain in different parts of the body has become common. Most people ignore it thinking it to be a common pain. Let us tell you that, if this pain persists for more than three months, then it is considered chronic pain. A recent study by Yale University has revealed that people who have pain continuously for three months or more are four times more at risk of getting depression.
According to the report, about 30 percent of people around the world are suffering from some kind of chronic pain. Back pain or migraine have become common problems. The study found that the risk of depression is higher if there is pain in more than one part of the body as compared to pain in just one place.
Pain also affects the mind
Professor Dustin Scheinost of Yale School of Medicine says that pain is not only in the body, it also affects our mind and soul. The study also states that there can be a deep connection between inflammation in the body and depression. Scientists have found that when there is pain in the body, some things related to inflammation such as C-reactive protein can help in understanding the link between pain and depression.
Research was done on more than four lakh people
This indicates that the relationship between pain and depression is not just emotional but also biological. This research was done on more than 4 lakh 31 thousand people. The data was observed for 14 years. In the research, pain in the head, face, neck, back, stomach, hip, knee and whole body was kept in different categories.
organs are connected to each other
In most of these cases, a link with depression was found. Professor Skinost said that we usually consider mental health to be separate, while the truth is that all parts of our body like heart, brain, liver are interconnected with each other. He said that if there is pain in the body for a long time, then it can also affect the mind.
Do not ignore chronic pain
He said that this kind of research helps us understand that if we ignore chronic pain, it can also worsen our mental condition. Therefore, it is important to take care of the mind along with the body.
