News Topical, Digital Desk : Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor on Friday announced "Choti Stree," an animated film inspired by her character in the hit horror-comedy franchise "Stree." Shraddha Kapoor announces 'Little Woman'
Shraddha told the audience, "The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe is coming up with an animated film, 'Choti Stree,' which will be released in theaters for all age groups. I think this will be an exciting time for India. It feels great to be a part of this universe." Producer Dinesh Vijan revealed that the film will directly connect to 'Stree 3,' which will release six months before the live-action sequel.
The horror-comedy universe began with the 2018 blockbuster "Stree," starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles. Its success paved the way for Maddock's horror-comedy universe, which now includes films like "Roohi," "Bhediya," and "Munjya." The next film in the universe, "Thama," is set to release this Diwali, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. The trailer was recently released, and like the other films in this universe, it promises to be a whole lot of entertainment.
Choti Stree will release before Stree 3
Dinesh Vijan shared an exciting detail about the film, saying, “The most interesting thing about Choti Stree is that the way Amar (Kaushik) and Nirankar (Bhatt) have created it, it will end with a scene from Stree 3. So, it will transition from animation to a live film and answer questions about the backstory of the character Stree. It will come out six months before Stree 3.”
Maddock Universe's official name announced
For the first time since the release of Stree in 2018, Maddock has officially announced the name of its horror-comedy franchise. Shraddha Kapoor, the face of Stree, took the stage to introduce Maddock Universe. Launching the new logo to thunderous applause, she told the audience, “It's time to forget the international universe because we have our own desi horror universe.”
In 2024, "Stree 2" became the biggest Hindi hit of the year, crossing the ₹500 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Meanwhile, the next release is Thama, directed by "Mujhya" filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, which will release theatrically on October 21, 2025.
