Ujjain is known as the city of Mahakal. Lord Shiva, the God of Gods, himself resides in this city. It is said that simply seeing Mahakal in Ujjain fulfills a devotee's every wish. Just 8 kilometers from Ujjain is the Chintamani Temple. Lord Ganesha is said to have appeared in this temple on his own. The Chintamani Temple has a centuries-old history. This temple houses a stepwell dating back to the Treta Yuga period.

Religious belief holds that a visit to Lord Ganesha at the Chintamani Temple fulfills every wish of the devotee. Aarti is performed three times in Ganpati Bappa's court. Chola Aarti is the first of these. Shayan Aarti is performed last. A large number of devotees attend Ganpati Ji's Aarti.

When is Chola Aarti performed?

Shri Chintamani Ganesh Temple opens at 5:00 AM and closes at 10:00 PM. During this time, three aarti ceremonies are performed for Ganpati Bappa. The first of these is the Chola Aarti. The Chola Aarti takes place daily at 7:00 AM.
