News Topical, Digital Desk : China on Friday said it will allow export of rare earths for civilian use, amid India's persistent demands for lifting the ban on Beijing and resuming export of the precious metals, essential for manufacturing modern products.

Responding to a question on India's demand to resume rare earth exports at a media briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiaqun said that according to laws and regulations, China's export controls on rare earth-related items do not target any specific country.

The Chinese government approved the application

"As long as the export is for civilian use and complies with regulations, the Chinese government will approve the application in time," he said.

He also highlighted China's stance on not exporting rare earths for the manufacture of defense products. He said, "China is willing to enhance dialogue and cooperation with relevant countries and regions to maintain the stability of global industrial and supply chains."

China placed a condition before the world

However, he stressed that the permits would be for civilian use, as they can also be used in the manufacture of defense equipment. "We would like to emphasize that, given the dual use of rare earths, it is in line with international practice to impose export controls on these items," Guo said.
