News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid growing uncertainty due to the tariff policy of the US and Donald Trump, China is now trying to improve relations with India. China's state-run newspaper Global Times welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's possible visit to China and said that better relations between India and China will not only benefit both countries, but it will also prove to be a good result for the whole world.

China's state-run newspaper Global Times said in a post on social media that PM Modi's upcoming visit to China could start a new chapter in India-China relations.

Hindi proverb mentioned

The post quoted a Hindi proverb, "Help your brother's boat to the shore, and your boat will reach the shore on its own." The Global Times wrote that if the two countries take this visit as an opportunity and bring positive changes in their China policy, then there are even greater possibilities for cooperation between the two countries.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, on reports of PM Modi's visit to China to attend the Tianjin summit, said that China welcomes PM Modi for the SCO Tianjin Summit.

Statement by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

He said, "We believe that with concerted efforts from all parties, the Tianjin Summit will be a confluence of solidarity, friendship and fruitful results, and the SCO will enter a new stage of high-quality development with greater solidarity, coordination, dynamism and productivity."

China will host the SCO summit in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. Leaders from more than 20 countries, including all SCO member states and heads of 10 international organisations, will attend related events, Guo said.

What did the Global Times indicate?

The Global Times also said that both China and India have a great opportunity to work together on issues such as terrorism, trade and cultural exchange. He said that cooperation between the two countries through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is important for regional peace and development.

The Global Times also pointed out that the US wants to include India in its Indo-Pacific strategy to contain China. However, India's independent foreign policy does not match this.

Let us tell you, Donald Trump has started a trade war with both China and India by imposing heavy tariffs on them. In April, Trump imposed tariffs on China, in response to which China also increased taxes on America. Then the tariff dispute was settled after talks between the two countries.
