It is alleged that stones were pelted at a religious place in Naya Tola, after which a clash broke out between two groups. It is said that when the Muharram Tazia procession reached Naya Tola, some anti-social elements pelted stones at a religious place and beat up the people watching the procession there.
During this many people have been injured. There is also information about two-three vehicles being damaged. Immediately after the incident, the police took charge and tried to remove the people. After receiving the information, the Superintendent of Police and District Magistrate also reached the spot and the situation was brought under control. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, local MLA and former Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad also reached the spot. He talked to the officials and appealed to restore peace.
A large number of police forces were immediately deployed
MLA Tarkishore Prasad said that some anti-social elements attacked people watching the procession with sticks. He said that the situation is calm now. It is said that after the incident, the situation became so tense that the administration had to immediately deploy a large number of police forces.
Soon the Naya Tola area turned into a police cantonment. Senior officials of the district administration and police also reached the spot and controlled the situation. The administration has started an investigation and the anti-social elements involved in the case are being identified. The district administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace.
In Gopalganj also there was a clash between the people of two villages
Meanwhile, in Gopalganj district, during the Muharram procession, a clash broke out between the people of two villages. The incident took place near Shikmi Dhala in Manjha police station area, where a dispute over the alignment of the route took the form of a clash, in which sticks and bricks were used from both sides. More than 10 people were injured in this incident, who are being treated in Sadar Hospital and private clinics. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and controlled the situation. In view of the tension in the area, additional police force has been deployed.
