Where will the cameras be installed in the train?
- Passenger coaches: A total of four CCTV cameras will be installed in each railway coach, of which two will be at each entry point.
- Rail Engine: Six CCTV cameras will be installed in each engine. These will include one camera each in front, behind and on both sides of the engine.
Benefits of installing CCTV cameras in trains
Let us tell you that Indian Railways is one of the largest rail networks in the world. Indian Railways operates an average of more than 13,000 passenger trains daily, which includes mail/express, passenger and suburban trains. About 2.4 crore passengers travel by Indian Railways every day.
CCTV cameras help prevent theft, tampering, harassment and other criminal activities. In case of an emergency such as a medical emergency, fire or any accident, CCTV footage can help understand the situation of the incident and help authorities respond quickly and effectively.
