News Topical, Digital Desk : The CBI has finally made its first arrest in the case of the death of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Chief Engineer Vimal Negi. On Sunday, the CBI arrested ASI Pankaj from Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district.

CBI had earlier called Pankaj to Delhi for questioning. There are many serious allegations against ASI Pankaj. More arrests may be made in this case in the coming days. The body of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, who went missing under mysterious circumstances on March 10, 2025, was recovered from Gobind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur on March 18.

ASI Pankaj accused of tampering with evidence

After this, on the complaint of Vimal Negi's wife, a case of harassment including inciting suicide was registered against the officials of the Power Corporation. Regarding the Vimal Negi death case, his wife Kiran Negi and his family members have made serious allegations like inciting suicide and murder against the officials of the Energy Corporation.

A 10-member CBI team has come from Delhi. ASI Pankaj is accused that when Vimal Negi's body was recovered, he took out a pen drive from his pocket and tampered with it. A video recording in this regard also went viral. The state High Court had ordered the CBI to hand over the investigation of the Vimal Negi case.

FIR lodged in New Shimla police station on wife's complaint

CBI is also investigating on whose orders the suspended ASI Pankaj tampered with the evidence, because Pankaj was neither a part of the SIT nor was he involved in this case. The matter gained momentum after Vimal Negi's body was found in Gobind Sagar lake in Bilaspur district on 18 March.

After Vimal Negi went missing, his wife Kiran Negi had written a letter to Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu accusing the then MD of HP Power Corporation Harikesh Meena, Director Deshraj and other senior officials of harassing her husband.

On the complaint of Vimal Negi's wife Kiran Negi, an FIR was registered at the New Shimla Police Station.
