A few days after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat made an important statement on Saturday on the nature of Hinduism and the principle of non-violence. He clarified that non-violence is the core of Hinduism, but punishing the oppressors is also a part of religion. Speaking at a program, he appealed to the Hindu society to understand their religion according to the times and adopt the tradition of Shastrartha.
'Killing oppressors is also a religion'
Speaking at the launch event of Swami Vigyanananda's book 'The Hindu Manifesto' in Delhi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said, "Non-violence is our religion. But killing oppressors is also a religion, non-violence. That is not violence. Those who have no treatment, we send them to another place for treatment. We do not harm our neighbors. But punishing the guilty is also the king's job. The king will do his duty." Although he did not name anyone in his statement, Bhagwat's statement is being considered very important after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
'We have a tradition of Shastrartha'
Emphasizing on the tradition of Shastrartha, Bhagwat said, “We have a tradition of Shastrartha. In which a proposal is put forward. On which everyone gives their views. In which there are both pros and cons. The name Manifesto is a bit confusing. In elections, parties have manifestos and a book has also been written by this name. The sutras given in this book are true. But its Bhashya (interpretation) will be discussed. The path is found only through such discussions.
'There is no distinction of caste and creed in the scriptures'
Citing Hindu scriptures, Bhagwat said, 'There is no caste-religion distinction in our scriptures. But it is possible that someone is benefiting from this, so it has been implemented.' He stressed the need for Hindu society to understand its religion deeply. Bhagwat said, 'Today Hindu society needs to understand Hindu religion. When such books will be discussed, the opinion that will be formed on it will be relevant to the times. And that is needed. Due to which the true form of our religion relevant to the times will come before us.'
'India will give the world a third way'
Referring to the challenges facing the world, Bhagwat said, 'The world needs a new path today. The experiments that were done in the last 2000 years were not successful. There is no satisfaction, no solution. We got material happiness, but also pain. The world has tried two paths. Now only India can provide the third path, and the world also expects this.'
