1. Aadhaar update deadline extended

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar update to September 14, 2024. This extension will give Aadhaar holders more time to update their information. Updating Aadhaar is important as it is linked to important services like banking, government programs and mobile connectivity. 

2. Increase in the price of LPG cylinder

Oil marketing companies have increased the prices of commercial LPG gas cylinders. The price of 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinder in Delhi has been increased by ₹ 39, which has come into effect from today. From today, the Delhi retail selling price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder is ₹ 1,691.50. The prices of commercial cylinders have also increased across the country. 

3. Stop fraud calls 

To tackle the growing problem of fraud calls and spam messages, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is implementing new measures from September 1, 2024. One of the major changes includes gradually transitioning telemarketing services to a blockchain-based system by September 30, increasing security and reducing the number of unsolicited calls and messages. 

4. Changes in credit card rules

There has been a change in the rules of credit card from today. Under this, changes have been made in terms of reward points and payment schedule. HDFC Bank is putting a cap on reward points for utility payments, which means that cardholders will be able to get fewer points on transactions like electricity or water payments. IDFC First Bank is amending its payment schedule.
