
News Topical, Digital Desk : The Rajasthan government is bringing the Unlawful Religious Conversion Prohibition Bill-2025, in which for the first time bulldozer action has been legalized. There will be a provision of up to 20 years of imprisonment and heavy fine for conversion of religion done by force, greed or fraud.
According to Home Department officials, information has come to light about illegal construction of buildings by some organizations involved in illegal conversion. Now these buildings can be demolished with a bulldozer. For this, the organization will first be given a notice of 72 hours.
This provision was placed in the bill
The bill also provides that all crimes related to illegal religious conversion will be considered non-bailable. As per the decision taken in the meeting of the business advisory committee of the Legislative Assembly, the government will introduce this bill in the Legislative Assembly on September 9.
There is also provision for punishment and fine
The bill states that if a person marries by luring or making false promises and changes religion after marriage, it will be considered conversion. Merely returning to the original ancestral religion will not be considered conversion. For illegal conversion, a minimum of seven and maximum of 14 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh will be imposed.
In particular, there is a provision of a minimum of 10 and maximum of 20 years of punishment for the forced conversion of minors, disabled, women, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people. If a person changes religion voluntarily, he will have to take permission from the administration. For this, he will have to inform the District Collector or Additional District Collector at least 90 days in advance.
