News Topical, Digital Desk : Budget Announcement on Semiconductor On behalf of the Modi government, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made a major announcement regarding semiconductors in her budget speech. The Finance Minister described this budget as one that empowers youth, placing special emphasis on employment, skills, and future technologies. The budget not only calls for creating new opportunities for youth, but also prioritizes improved and transparent governance through technology.
The government believes that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) can significantly improve policy implementation, service delivery, and administrative efficiency. AI-based governance will make decisions faster, more accurate, and data-driven.
Special focus has been given in the budget on increasing the capacity of the Semiconductor sector. The government has talked about strengthening the Semiconductor ecosystem in the country and promoting its supply chain, so that India can become self-reliant in this strategic sector. Under this, a proposal has been made to introduce Semiconductor Mission 2.0, which will accelerate investments related to design, manufacturing and packaging and India will be able to register its strong presence in the global value chain.
Promotion of Pharma and EMS sector also The government has also emphasized on making India a global manufacturing pharma hub. This will open up new possibilities in the production, export and research of medicines. To strengthen the electronics sector, it has been announced to expand the scope of EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) PLI scheme. Under this scheme, it is proposed to increase the PLI outlay to ₹40,000 crore, which will give a big boost to domestic manufacturing and create new employment opportunities.
