MHA has issued an official notification of the investigation. Now the NIA will register a case and investigate this matter. The NIA will take the case diary and FIR of the Pahalgam attack investigation from the local police. Before this, the NIA team is already present in Pahalgam. It has inspected the scene of crime. Along with the NIA, its forensic team is also present in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
When and where did the Pahalgam terrorist attack happen?
The terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam, Kashmir on 22 April 2025 between 2:45 and 3:00 pm. The place was in the Baisaran Valley, 6-7 km from Pahalgam in Anantnag district. It is also called 'Mini Switzerland'. Lakhs of tourists visit here every year. When tourists were horse riding, eating Bhelpuri, picnicking, or enjoying the valleys, terrorists entered the Baisaran Valley. They had AK-47, M4 carbine, and other automatic weapons. Some terrorists were wearing body cameras.
These terrorists first asked the tourists for their names, religion and identity card. Some were asked to recite Kalma. After this, they pushed the men aside and started firing. Some tourists were asked to remove their pants so that their religion could be confirmed. 26 people died in this attack by terrorists.
The responsibility for this attack was taken by The Resistance Front (TRF), which is an affiliate of Lashkar-e-Taiba and operates from Pakistan. Its mastermind was Saifullah Khalid, who operates from Rawalkot in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). He had warned of the attack a month ago. After the attack, the terrorists fled to the hills and forests.
Following this attack, 1450 people were detained in Kashmir, including 250 Over Ground Workers (OGW). At the same time, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan, and Pakistan canceled the Shimla Agreement, which led to a peak of tension.
