News Topical, Digital Desk : On Saturday (November 8), a massive uproar erupted in the Indargarh town of Datia district in Madhya Pradesh, after the burning of an effigy of Pt. Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, head of the Bageshwar Dham. Workers of the Bhim Army and the Azad Samaj Party were protesting against Shastri, which was strongly opposed by Hindu organizations.

The two sides initially exchanged slogans, which quickly escalated into stone-throwing. To control the situation, police resorted to lathi-charge and water cannons to disperse the crowd.

What is the whole matter?

According to reports, Bhim Army and Azad Samaj Party workers, led by Gwalior divisional president Keshav Yadav, were holding a rally from Ambedkar Park. They intended to burn an effigy of Pandit Dhirendra Shastri near Gwalior Square.

Meanwhile, activists from Hindu organizations already present there began protesting and raising counter-slogans. Hindu organizations also burned an effigy of Damodar Yadav in protest. Police initially tried to pacify both sides by explaining the situation.

Tension increased while returning from the police station

Following this, Bhim Army activists went to the Indergarh police station and demanded an FIR be filed against Dhirendra Shastri. They alleged that Hindu organizations hurled casteist slurs at them and disrupted their event.

It is alleged that while returning from the police station, both the groups once again came face to face and heavy stone pelting started from both the sides.

The police used batons

As the situation escalated, police resorted to a lathi charge and used water cannons to disperse the crowd. Three people were reportedly injured in the stampede and lathi charge.

Why was there protest?

This entire controversy began with the "Sanatan Ekta Padyatra" organized by Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, head of the Bageshwar Dham. Damodar Yadav, national president of the Dalit Backward Society Organization, recently filed a petition in the High Court opposing this yatra.

Yadav alleges that Shastri abused and threatened him in Haryana. Damodar Yadav's brother, Keshav Yadav, organized the effigy burning event in Indergarh in protest.

Police statement

Given the tense atmosphere in the town, a heavy police force has been deployed. According to Sub-Divisional Officer (SDOP) Ajay Kumar Sandeep, the police have identified key activists from both organizations and have deployed additional forces to maintain peace.
