News Topical, Digital Desk : In Bhilwara, villagers have launched a protest against the factory's toxic fumes. The villagers' anger against the Quality Suiting Private Limited factory, located near the Guwardi drain on Chittor Road, which produces oil by burning tires, took a dangerous turn on Friday (December 12). Two young men climbed onto the factory's boiler and threatened to self-immolate. Upon receiving the information, the Hamirgarh Tehsildar, Hamirgarh and Mangrop police officers, and officials from the Pollution Control Board arrived at the scene and are attempting to pacify the youth. The villagers also accused the Pollution Control Board of colluding with the factory owner. They also beat an effigy of the factory owner with their shoes.
The villagers made this allegation
Villagers say that about 50 percent of the village suffers from asthma and cancer due to factory smoke. Villagers reported that in the past few years, 15-20 people have died from cancer and about 50 from asthma.
In many families, children are orphaned by early deaths, leaving their futures bleak. Villagers say the stench of smoke is so pungent that breathing becomes difficult. Skin diseases, eye irritation, headaches, and weakness have become common.
The toxic gas also affected school children.
The children attending the Government Higher Secondary School in Guvardi, located directly next to the factory, are also being directly affected. Villagers report that the smoke has caused respiratory problems, asthma, and allergies in many children. Some have even stopped attending school due to the odor and health problems, which violates the Right to Education Act.
No action despite complaints
Villagers said that complaints in this regard have been given to various departments including CMO Portal, PMO Portal, Pollution Control Board, but due to the alleged political influence of the factory owner, no action has been taken so far.
The villagers demanded the closure of the factory.
The villagers have demanded that the district administration immediately shut down the factory that burns tyres to produce oil, that the air quality around the village and school be tested and the report made public, and that legal action be taken against the factory management and responsible officials.
If action is not taken within 15 days, there is a warning of a fierce agitation. The villagers have warned that if concrete action is not taken against the factory within 15 days, then the people of the entire village will be forced to launch a fierce agitation, for which the administration will be fully responsible.
