News Topical, Digital Desk : 11 people were killed in a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB celebrations in Bengaluru. Following allegations of negligence and mismanagement, the Karnataka government suspended Bengaluru Police Commissioner, DCP of Central Division, ACP (West) and local inspector.
Now the Karnataka government has removed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's political secretary Govindaraju from the post. Govindaraju is a Congress MLC and is considered very close to Siddaramaiah. However, no reason has been given for removing him from the post.
Allegations against Govindaraju
According to sources, it was due to pressure from Govindaraju that Siddaramaiah permitted the felicitation programme. It was reported that in the cabinet meeting held on Thursday evening, the ministers expressed a lot of resentment against Govindaraju. Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy held Govindaraju responsible for the accident.
Kumaraswamy alleged that Govindaraju called the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and pressured him to give permission for the victory celebrations. When the Commissioner said that two events would create security problems and the police were tired of controlling the crowd overnight, he refused.
CM had given the order verbally
- According to Kumaraswamy, after this Govindaraju made Siddaramaiah talk to the commissioner and the CM verbally ordered to follow the instructions and give permission for the programs. It is believed that this is why Govindaraju has been removed from his post.
- At the same time, the Karnataka government has also transferred ADGP Intelligence Hemant Nimbalkar. Allegations were made that the government is hesitant to take action against him because his wife is a former Congress MLA.
