News Topical, Digital Desk : The Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain is a major center of faith for devotees. Every day, a large number of devotees come here to visit Baba Mahakal and offer him various items and garlands. However, the temple management has now issued an important and strict new guideline regarding offering garlands to Baba Mahakal , according to which garlands weighing 10 kg or larger cannot be offered to the Shivalinga.
This rule will come into effect on January 1st. It is said that it will be followed from Bhasma Aarti to Shayan Aarti. Let us understand the key points related to this, which are as follows:
Why is there a ban on offering big garlands to Mahakal?
The temple administration has made this decision for several reasons. The Mahakal Jyotirlinga is self-manifested and is very fragile. The weight of heavy garlands and moisture pose a risk of damage to the Jyotirlinga. The primary purpose of this rule is to protect the Jyotirlinga.
Additionally, it is being said that large garlands were used with excessive amounts of flowers, which were removed immediately after aarti or darshan. This also resulted in wastage of flowers. Furthermore, the large garlands made it difficult to maintain cleanliness and order in the sanctum sanctorum.
Other things
The temple administration has now permitted devotees to offer loose flowers or small individual garlands.
Devotees have been urged to offer Bilva leaves and fresh fruit in large quantities, as these items are very dear to Baba and do not harm the Jyotirlinga.
Along with this, this new guideline is an important step for both the convenience of the devotees and the safety of the Jyotirlinga of Baba Mahakal, which should be followed by all the devotees.
