News Topical, Digital Desk : The court delivered its verdict on Tuesday (November 17) in the case of two PAN cards belonging to former Samajwadi Party MLA Abdullah Azam. The MP-MLA Magistrate Court convicted both Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam and sentenced them to seven years in prison.
The court delivered its verdict on Tuesday (November 17) in the two PAN card cases involving former SP MLA Abdullah Azam. The MP-MLA Magistrate Court convicted both Azam and Abdullah and sentenced them to seven years in prison, along with a fine of 50,000 rupees. Upon the court's verdict, Azam and Abdullah were taken into judicial custody.
Azam Khan's lawyer has filed a petition in court to have Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam held in the same jail. The court will now decide where they will be held.
It should be noted that in 2019, BJP leader and current city MLA Akash Saxena filed a case against Abdullah Azam at the Civil Lines police station, alleging that Abdullah Azam had obtained two PAN cards using two different birth certificates. It is alleged that Abdullah had used both PAN cards from time to time at the behest of SP leader Azam Khan. The trial of this case was underway in the EPMI-MLA Magistrate Court, where arguments from both sides had been completed.
The court was scheduled to deliver its verdict in this case on Tuesday, and both Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam were summoned for the hearing. Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam appeared in court that afternoon. MP-MLA Magistrate Court Shobhit Bansal convicted Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam of fraud.
ADG Sandeep Saxena stated that the court sentenced both men to seven years' imprisonment in this case, and also imposed a fine of 50,000 rupees. BJP MLA Akash Saxena said, "Azam Khan has been punished for his actions. We welcome the court's decision. After six years, the court has delivered its verdict."
