News Topical, Digital Desk : NASA astronaut Jonny Kim and two Russian cosmonauts, Sergey Ryzhikov and Alexei Zubritsky, returned safely to Earth after completing an eight-month scientific mission. This mission is considered crucial for advancing new technologies on Earth and future space missions through space research.

According to NASA, the three astronauts landed safely by parachute on Tuesday southeast of the city of Dzhezkazgan, Kazakhstan. The Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft departed from the ISS at 8:41 p.m. on December 8 and landed at 10:03 p.m.

What did you do during the mission ?

During this period, the crew spent 245 days in space, orbiting the Earth 3,920 times, and traveling approximately 104 million miles. This was Kim and Zubritsky's first space mission, while Ryzhikov, on his third mission, has completed a total of 603 days in space.

While aboard the ISS , Jonny Kim participated in several important scientific researches. He studied the behavior of bioprinted tissues containing blood vessels in microgravity, which could advance the technology for creating tissues in space for future patient treatments.

Benefits of Mission

Kim also conducted experiments to remotely control multiple robots simultaneously in space as part of the Surface Avatar study. This technology will help develop robotic assistants for future Moon and Mars missions.

Kim also worked on a process to create nanomaterials that resemble DNA in space. This could lead to technologies that deliver drugs more easily to the right parts of the body and new types of treatments in the future.

Upon landing, all crew members will be flown to Karaganda after completing medical checkups. Jonny Kim will then fly to NASA 's Johnson Space Center in Houston. Scientific work has been ongoing on the ISS for more than 25 years.

What missions is NASA working on ?

The station is a key platform for NASA to understand the challenges of long-duration space missions and develop new technologies. As private companies work on space station and human mission services in low-Earth orbit, NASA is focusing its attention on preparing for missions to the Moon and, later, Mars.
