News Topical, Digital Desk : An Indian-origin driver was arrested in the US last month after being accused of causing a drunken accident that killed three people and seriously injured several others. However, according to recent reports, he was not drunk at the time of the accident.
The accused driver has been identified as 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh. Police arrested Jashanpreet on October 21st. The accident, which occurred in Ontario, California, was initially attributed to the driver being intoxicated. However, reports now indicate the opposite.
What is the whole matter?
No narcotics were found in Jashnpreet's blood sample. The Ontario Attorney General stated that this case involved reckless driving, resulting in the death of three people. Jashnpreet has now been charged with reckless driving on a highway.
According to Attorney General Jason Anderson,
This was a horrific accident, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to several others. Frankly, it could have been overlooked. Had the driver driven more carefully, this tragedy would not have occurred.
Second case after August
Police investigations have revealed that Jashnpreet is an illegal immigrant who entered the US by crossing the southern border in 2022. This is the second incident since August where an Indian-origin driver has caused a major accident.
Earlier on August 12, 28-year-old Harjinder Singh, an Indian-origin man, was arrested after a tractor-trailer collision in Florida. Following the incident, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio suspended work visas for all commercial truck drivers.
